Nokia App Generator

In meinem Beitrag “App Stores – die Entwickler-Sicht habe ich AppMakr – einem simplen iPhone App Generator – erwähnt. Jetzt bietet Nokia mit dem Ovi app wizard ein ähnliches Tool für Ovi Apps an.

Nokia will es damit Publishern offenbar erleichtern aus ihren Inhalten eine Applikation zu erstellen und den mobilen Markt zu bedienen. Im Test hat das auch wirklich sehr einfach funktioniert. Alles was man dazu braucht ist ein RSS-Feed, ein paar Grafiken und etwa 5 Minuten Zeit und schon hat man seine eigene gebrandete Applikation für Nokia Handys.

Ich bin wirklich gespannt wie die Applikation dann am Gerät läuft. Ich habe gestern bereits eine erste App eingereicht und bin gespannt wie lange das Approval bei Ovi dauert. Außerdem bin ich gespannt mit welchen Geräten die App dann kompatibel ist.

Widsets mit Werbung

Die neue Version des Nokia Beta Labs Graduate WidSets blendet seit Neuestem Werbung ein.

Ich hab mich nach dem letzten Update schon gewundert, warum sich in der ersten Spalte nicht mehr der volle Bereich nutzen lässt. Jetzt weiß ich warum, er wird dazu genutzt um Werbung einzublenden. (Vielleicht hätte ich auch einfach die Release-Notes genauer lesen sollen!)

Ich finde diese Art der Werbung nicht wirklich störend, solange sie nicht die restlichen Funktionen negativ beeinflusst und sich doch relativ harmonisch ins Gesamtbild integriert.

Das WidSets, bzw. Nokia, mit seinem Dienst auch Geld verdienen will, versteh ich absolut. Aus diesem Grund ist der Schritt auch gut nachvollziehbar und ich bin gespannt welchem Erfolg WidSets damit hat.

WidSets – Mobiles Werkzeug

Heute ist es mal an der Zeit eine meiner Lieblingsanwendungen vorzustellen. WidSets ist den Beta Labs von Nokia entsprungen und ist eine Art Widget-Framework für das Handy.
WidSets kann verschiedene Dienste, wie RSS-Feeds, Wetter-Infos, Email-Reader oder Ähnliches integrieren. Die Konfiguration kann komfortabel über die WidSets-Webseite gemacht werden, der Client synchronisiert sich danach automatisch und die Einstellungen werden übernommen. Auch bei einer Neuinstallation sind die eingestellten Dienste sofort verfügbar.

Ich hoffe, dass sich der Dienst noch weiterer Beliebtheit erfreut und er dadurch noch weitere WidSets entstehen.

Mobio – Mobile lifestyle applications

It seems to become quite common to create widgets for the mobile phone. Where does so (I will introduce this product later) and now another company starts with widgets for the mobile market.

Mobio makes mobile lifestyle applications, is written as first sentence on the companies about site. This sounds great and let us expect nice widgets.

Due the fact that I’m Austrian and therefore use an Austrian carrier I wasn’t able to test the application, so I have to trust this paragraph:

This really sounds great and I would like to test and use it in Europe as well!
