Java launches JavaFX, a new mobile plattform

Mittwoch, 09. Mai 2007 @ 11:45 | framework, software

Yesterday Sun introduced this new platform for mobile phones at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco.

With this new platform Sun wants to simplify the development for a wide range of devices (as well as mobile devices) and last but not least, wants to earn money with this technology.

The big picture

As you might know, Sun earns little licensing for the Java-Technology. This should be changed with JavaFX, as a full operating system for mobile phones is included in the JavaFX family. This OS should enable full supported and high-standard phones like the iPhone.

JavaFX Script should enable rich internet application and be a counterpart for Adobe’s Flash-Technology

At A Glance

  • The JavaFX product family leverages the Java platform’s write-once-run-anywhere portability, application security model, ubiquitous distribution and enterprise connectivity
  • JavaFX initially is comprised of JavaFX Script and JavaFX Mobile
  • JavaFX Script is a highly productive scripting language for content developers to create rich media and interactive content
  • JavaFX Mobile, Sun’s software system for mobile devices, is available via OEM license to carriers, handset manufacturers and others seeking a branded relationship with consumers

I’m looking forward how many manufactures will use this product family and how this will influence the development of mobile applications.

Oh wait. Yes, I have. I’m sorry, but I just don’t have it in me right now to type it all out again. Besides, it was just ramblings anyway. You didn’t want to hear me go on and on about this, right?
